Our two-to five-day, day camps are one of the core
programming components for As One Foundation. These camps are conducted
free of charge for all participants; however, participant numbers
are limited to location capacity, coach-to-athlete ratio, and funding
availability. The objectives of our camps programs reflect that
of our mission:
Athletic Endeavors – Through sports camps we are able to invite some of the best coaches in their respective sports to our camps to provide participants with instruction designed to take their athletic ability to the next level. In addition, the location and administration of the camp is designed specifically to provide the participants with the proper facilities and equipment needed to excel at that sport. Lastly, in order to demonstrate progress and achievement participants will receive notoriety through awards and gifts.
Educational Programming – Each camp will also incorporate a Life Skills and Academics programming component. Through our Life Skills program, inspired by the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) CHAMPS Life Skills Program, athletes are introduced to a variety of activities and speakers that promote the development of character, teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership. We also invite speakers from various backgrounds to provide information to the participants on pursuing a higher education.
Spiritual Enrichment – An important part of the As One Foundation Mission is the spiritual development of our youth. Through As One Ministries, we make sure to incorporate the importance of a Christ-Centered life in all we do at the beginning, duration of, and conclusion of each camp.
Currently, we are only conducting the Devard Darling Football Camp in Freeport, Grand Bahama, but will be adding a new camp location in Nassau, New Providence in 2008. Please continue to check our website for additional sports camps; including track and field, volleyball, basketball, baseball, and cheerleading camps in both Bahamas and in the United States.
