Fundraising Intern
The As One Foundation is currently seeking a student or recent graduate for a fundraising/event planning internship beginning immediately with potential to extend though the academic year. The communications intern will be expected to provide a minimum of 10 hours/week to support the As One Foundation’s fundraising strategy.

Interns at the As One Foundation will be exposed to an exceptionally dynamic, mission-oriented, independent environment, working primarily via telecommunication. Ingenuity is encouraged.
The Foundation has an international reach and mission to help young people unlock & unleash their full potential through athletics, education and spiritual enrichment.

Internship Summary
Remotely and/or in As One’s Houston, Texas; Metro Atlanta and Nassau & Freeport Bahamas offices, the fundraising/event planning intern may:

  • Maintain and update AS ONE’s fundraising database. grants records, including schedules for deliverables and application renewals.
  • Research and document prospective funding sources including foundations, potential sponsors, grants and other potential donors of cash, materials, and/or services.
  • Assist with fundraising and publicity campaigns: solicitations, sponsor relations, press releases, public service announcements, follow-up calls, preparation of solicitation and press packets, etc.
  • Assist with coordination, record-keeping, and promotion of As One Fundraising events.
  • Assist with coordination of sponsor relations: ensure sponsors receive timely notice and provide their event-related ads, logos, guest lists, etc., in time to gain all benefits due.
  • Design posters, flyers, invitations, thank you cards, etc.
  • Track and compile fundraising and/or media statistics
  • Track and organize auction donations, and prepare bid-sheets, auction materials, etc.
  • Write for the AS ONE VOICE newsletter and other relevant publications.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Support Executive Director as needed.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are a must.
  • Experience working with or as part of large volunteer communities is a major plus.
  • Comfort with a wide variety of communications tools is a must: for example, mailing lists, Constant Contact, SimplyCast, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
  • Interest in As One and its mission.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Web applications, experience with design software a plus).
  • Must be able to work well independently, with limited supervision in a transparent and collaborative environment.
  • Comfort working with people of diverse demographics and cultural characteristics.

This is an unpaid internship. School credit may be available.
